Dhaka International University (DIU) is one of Bangladesh’s pioneering private universities. DIU’s faculties are widely recognized for advancing research in key areas, including tobacco control, road safety, anti-discrimination, environmental law, and cybercrime. Supported by partners such as CTFK, BRAC, GRSP, GHAI, and MJF, DIU has played a vital role in reforms on tobacco control (2021), road safety (2022–2023), and anti-discrimination (2023). Faculty research is frequently being published in reputed journals and shared at international conferences. Alongside academic contributions, DIU has been at the forefront of advocacy, promoting safe roads through campaigns and city-level collaborations since 2016. Its Tobacco Control and Research Cell (TCRC) further drives policy advocacy through research and awareness initiatives.

The Road Safety project funded by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), aims to assist the Government of Bangladesh in enacting a Comprehensive Road Safety Law (CRSL) by 2025, aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and national commitments, with milestones including draft preparation, vetting, cabinet approval, and final enactment.
